My name is Nicole. I am a South African artist, currently living and working out of Amersfoort, The Netherlands. I create artwork that is inspired by mother nature, and I enjoy expressing her miracles through my own representations.
I feel like I spend the vast of my time just observing. I am an observer by nature. Taking in, learning and letting things make themselves known to me, rather than trying to figure them out.
Being in the Netherlands is special, as many artists over the centuries have discovered. Many great artists have come to the Netherlands at some point to discover for themselves it’s beautiful, often harsh and unique landscapes. In addition, the Netherlands has attracted many great artists to experience the miraculous phenomenon known as Dutch Light.
I enjoy experimenting with different mediums, such as oil paint, oil pastel, pencil and acrylic. Each has something unique to offer it’s subjects, and are able to express nature’s astounding qualities.
I want my art to bring people a sense of freedom and play. I intend it not as a biological or metaphysical reproduction (after all, only mother nature can produce true source), but as a representation. Something that conveys the feeling of a subject, and that invokes something within us that connects us to nature.
